God's Word Gives Life - Sermon Notes
"God's Word Gives Life"
Matthew 4:1-4
According to Jesus, food is not enough to sustain life. Believers cannot hope to make it through this alive without the Word of God.
I. God's Word brought life in the desert
A. In our text, Jesus quoted from Deuteronomy 8:3
B. In that passage, God spoke and manna appeared, so that the Israelites would not die in the desert.
C. God's Word is greater than your need!
D. Sometimes we have the need just so we can see His provision
II. God's Word brought order of out of confusion
A. Genesis 1
B. God's Word is greater than confusion
The problem is, WE'RE NOT LISTENING! We have a plethora of Bibles, and we don't read any of them. We have the Word broadcast to us over the airwaves, and we get the Word in abundance through church activities. There are books galore regarding Christian subjects. But it's kind of like an all-you-can-eat buffet -- we've had so much, we're not hungry for any more! We have God's Word but we can't hear it, and we are consequently starving to death, even though we don't know it.
III. God's Word brings life to the soul
A. John 6:32-37,47-51,63 -- Jesus is the Living Word of God
B. We are dead without Christ
C. He gave His life in payment for ours
Have you eaten the right kind of bread? Satan will tempt you to try to find your own way.
