The merit we are currently studying is Space Exploration and so we discussed some of the manned space missions that have taken place over the last 40 years. Then briefly looked at the current space shuttle and talked about how it works.
Like I said it was a great night and we hope to see all the boys again this week.

An open letter from God
Good afternoon! Well, we've got the vans and are ready to leave in a few hours with 18 young people for the Kansas Youth Convention in Wichita! Please pray for me and the other youth sponsors as we set out to pour into the lives of these incredible teenagers for 37 hours this weekend. I also want to encourage you to join us Sunday morning for a great worship service. I will be delivering that morning "An Open Letter From God". It has occurred to me that there are many Christ-followers who have completely messed up concepts of God, and it is affecting their walks with Christ. This message is a must-hear, because I believe that many who have not been free in their Christian life will find freedom Sunday morning. Then, be sure to join us at 6:00 Sunday evening at the 4-H Building (north of town) for our Fall Fest Supper. This is a potluck meal, and we are asking people to bring a main dish and either a salad or dessert to share. The Mpact girls and the Royal Ranger boys will be providing a program that evening, and you won't want to miss this time of great fellowship. Looking forward to seeing you Sunday! Cookout 2009!
Mpact Girls Ministries and Royal Rangers Boys Ministries joined together for an end-of-year cookout Wednesday evening, May 6, at the church. The evening started with an outdoor meal, at which around 160 people were fed. Most of the Mpact and Royal Rangers students were on hand, along with several of their family members. Burgers and hot dogs were grilled by Lt. Commanders Mike Erhart, Leon Sharp and Don Smith, with Adventure Ranger Ryan Davisson also helping. The side dishes were provided by the ladies of the church. Following the meal, an awards council was held in the church auditorium, in which all the group leaders presented the students with achievement awards for their work during the past year. At the end of the council, special recognition was given to all the adult leaders, and a special offering was taken to go towards something special for this group of men and women. Following the council, the groups were dismissed to go the church parking lot, where it was announced that the Royal Rangers had won the offering contest for the year. As a result, the boys got two minutes to shoot the girls with water guns.0
Royal Rangers Campout
On Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25, the Discovery Rangers and Adventure Rangers enjoyed a camp out at a private grounds near Logan. 16 boys attended the camp-out, with 6 men going as leaders. The boys were: Conner Boxler, Ian Chestnut, Dalyon Chiplaski, Kirk Coomes, Mark Coomes, Trey Ellis, Michael Fawcett, Conner Hill, Brock Means, Kylor Millar, Colton Morgan, Cordell Ratfliff, Tristen Ratliff, Julian Snyder, Justice Snyder and Eric Townsden. The leaders were Pastor Dave Pugh, Commander Steven Seems, Lt. Commander Mike Erhart, Lt. Commander Leon Sharp, as well as Kevin Morgan and Eric Babcock. The boys were responsible for setting up their own tents, which proved quite a challenge in the Kansas wind! Following camp set-up, each boy was responsible for a particular duty on the roster, including gathering firewood, digging a latrine, setting up a campfire, etc. The primary focus of the camp-out was to train boys in cooking over a campfire. Several of the boys had opportunity to help with this, as three meals were cooked and served during the camp out. Not all the time was spent training. Commander Seems and Lt. Commander Sharp led the boys in some active games, including Capture the Flag. A campfire service was held that night with Pastor Dave speaking on "No Compromise", and challenging the boys and leaders to let go of areas in their life that keep them from being sold out to God. Temperatures on Friday soared to close to 90 degrees, but as evening fell, a cold front blew in, and temperatures drastically dropped. By bed time, it was pretty chilly out, but the boys stayed warm in their sleeping bags and tents. On Saturday, it was difficult to leave the fire, as temperatures refused to budge out of the forties, with a strong wind blowing. Despite the unexpected cold weather, a good time was had by all.0
Royal Rangers moves to Fischer Building
Beginning Wednesday night, December 10, Royal Rangers Boys Ministries will be moving to the Fischer Building, 205 F Street, in Phillipsburg. Royal Rangers has been meeting at the Community Building since its inception in September of 2007. The move is being made in an effort to find more up-to-date and efficient heating. The church bus will continue to run its normal route, and will drop the boys off and pick them up at the Fischer Building each week. In a related story, the adult Bible Study is moving to the church auditorium also beginning Wednesday, December 10. This had been a home Bible study during the school year, but is now being moved back to the church, to accommodate any adult who would like to join us. Rock Solid Youth Ministries will continue to meet in the gym at the Community Building, and Mpact Girls Ministries will continue to meet at the church.0
"Thank You Pastor for the Ice Cream!" That's what the Discovery Rangers were saying Wednesday night after they won the offering contest. Last week Pastor Dave said that which ever Royal Ranger group brought the most offering he would take them to the Chicken Inn for ice cream. Well....the Discovery Rangers won the contest. WAY TO GO BOYS! Mike and I would like to say thanks as well...because we got ice cream too.
Before we went to get ice cream we did get a chance to discuss the bible story that we have been going over each week. It was so awesome to see all the boys answering questions about the story and understanding what the story is about. So please continue to pray for the Royal Rangers Ministry.
Did someone say ICE CREAM!

Walk around...the walls of Jericho will fall
We had another awesome night with the Discovery Rangers. It has been so much fun over the last few weeks getting to know all the new boys and just seeing them change. Last night we decided that we needed to break-up the class into two patrols. It was really neat to stand back and see how the boys interacted with one another and were able to setup two groups and new patrol guides. Once the new patrol was setup, Lieutenant Commander Mike spent some time with the boys discussing the bible story. The story for the week had to deal with the walls of Jericho and how God gave Joshua special instructions. These instructions from God were that Joshua was suppose to take his men and walk around the walls for seven days. For six days these men walked around one time and on the seventh day they walked aroud them SEVEN TIMES and they sounded the trumpets. Once the trumpets sounded and the men yelled the Walls came crashing down!! (The story can be found in the bible: Joshua 6:1-20) After the story and during our devotion time we had an opportunity to discuss with the boys what God was doing. The boys had a hard time understanding why the men had to walk around the walls. We explained to them that because the men obeyed God....he kept him promise and took down the walls of Jericho.1
The night of the Knots
Tonight during our Royal Rangers meeting we went over our bible study & devotion, but we also discussed a couple different types of knots. In the Royal Rangers ministry we try to take the boys camping at least once a year. When the groups go on this camp out it's nice if the boys are able to perform certain tasks for the camp out. As many of us know...usually a "true" camping trip will require the use of rope. The ropes may be used for multiple things: to setup the tent, hang up clothes, tie up something, etc. When using the ropes there are many different knots that can be used, depending on what you are wanting to do. So tonight we discussed the Figure 8 Knot and the Square Knot. Both of the knots are pretty easy to tie, but can be very effective when needing to tie something. Each of the 10 boys we had in class tonight were able to tie both knots. The evening with the boys went very well, and I really believe that God is going to wonderful things with this group of boys.0
