Missions Festival continues....
Good morning, church family! What a great start we had Sunday to our Festival of Missions '09! I still continue to hear reports of how God used Dwain Jones to minister to hearts and lives while he was with us. As I said Sunday night, we're just getting warmed up! This Sunday is going to be a great day together, I assure you. First of all Aaron Rust, Assemblies of God missionary to Namibia, is going to be with us in the morning service. Many of you who have been around awhile know Aaron, as these are his old stomping grounds. He grew up in K-town, and pastored the old Pleasant Green Assembly of God for awhile. I will tell you that he is an excellent missionary who is consumed with passion for Africa. Then, at 6:00pm will be our Speed the Light Rally, with Mark Oberbeck speaking. Mark is the pastor at Northridge Assembly of God in Grand Island, Nebraska. For 20 years, he served as District Youth Director in Iowa, and led that district to become one of the strongest states nationwide in Speed the Light giving. He has a great passion for God and for revival, which has resulted in a passion for missions. The rally Sunday evening will take on a "youth" oriented flavor, and we are expecting a good showing from our Rock Solid youth group, some 30-kids strong! All who come Sunday will receive a free gift, and afterward we will be taking the youth, as well as Mark and his family to Pizza Hut. I can't wait to see what God is going to do this week!!!! No addiction is too strong
This winter, we are committed to sharing the message with our community that "No Addiction is Too Strong". There are many types of addictions -- substances, pornography, gambling, sex, overeating....we'll even hear a story this winter about an addiction to power.
This Sunday morning, with some help from Rock Solid Youth Ministries, I will be preaching on our theme this winter. Whether you suffer from an addiction, or know someone who does, I encourage you to be here. I am believing that bondages and chains will be broken Sunday morning! That is good news for people who have not been able to find freedom from life-controlling problems: Nothing is too hard for God!
Then, at 6:00 Sunday evening, we will be back in the Book of Acts, with a tough, yet timely message on "Face to Face With Prejudice." Prejudice is a sin that has a choke hold on Christians today, and we will be dealing with that in our evening service.
What an awesome church family I have the privilege to serve! I look forward to seeing you Sunday!
