The Great Physician
February 19th, 2010 0 CommentsGood morning!
I want to encourage you to join us at First Assembly Sunday morning, as we continue examining the promise-keeping names of God. This week, we will see Him as “The Great Physician,” which perfectly compliments our theme this winter, “No Illness is Too Difficult.” I am praying and believing God that many will receive a healing touch from Almighty God this Sunday!
Then, at 6:00 Sunday evening, we will have our Winter Banquet at the Huck Boyd Center. This is a catered meal, so you won’t need to bring anything. The choices are baked steak or baked stuffed chicken. If you have not yet signed up to come Sunday night, please reply to this message AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to let me know which meat you would like to order. There is NO CHARGE for this banquet, but we will be receiving an offering to cover the expenses. Also, we will enjoy music that night by the “What 4?” and other special music from our own congregation.

The Provider
February 12th, 2010 0 CommentsGood morning!
To all who have ever been in need: you should not miss services this Sunday morning at First Assembly! God revealed Himself long ago as The Provider, and He is ready to give YOU a fresh revelation of that covenant/promise this weekend! Would you join us Sunday for a powerful morning together?
Then at 6:00 Sunday evening, we’ll be getting back into the Book of Acts, to see “How It’s Done!” Chapter 11 records how the Early Church saw great success, and how we can, too! You won’t want to miss it!
We hope to see you on Valentine’s Day!

Getting off to a great start
December 31st, 2009 0 CommentsGood afternoon, and Happy New Year!
I would like to take this time to invite you to the last church activity we will have in this decade (I know, technically we still have one more year in the decade, so don’t write argumentative notes back to me, please!!!).
Tonight from 8:00 until midnight, we will have our Family Watch Night. We will begin with special “talents” from our congregation ministering upstairs, then we will go downstairs to eat food and play games. Then, at midnight we will celebrate Communion together to usher in this new year and decade.
It’s going to be a lot of fun, and feel free to bring a “talent” or two from your family (our family has a couple of things prepared), and bring some finger foods for the fellowship.
Then, Sunday morning I will be addressing the unique challenge that we have before us as a church in the coming year in the message I am preparing, “Getting Off to a Great Start”. I would encourage you to come and be a part of our first Sunday in the new year!
There will be NO evening activity this Sunday.

Secret to a Merry Christmas
December 16th, 2009 0 CommentsChildren’s Christmas Program
December 11th, 2009 0 CommentsGood morning!
I trust that you’re all dug out from the “flurries” we had earlier in the week! Now we are headed towards a warm-up for the weekend before it gets cold again on Monday.
Sunday morning, we have a very special service planned. The Kids Church, under my wife’s direction, will be presenting a program called, “The Symbols of Christmas”. I always love it when the kids get up and minister, and I know we are in for a special morning. The program will be held at 10:30, following our regular Sunday school hour.
Then, at 6:00pm, we will be going Christmas Caroling! We will meet at the church for instruction and prayer, then will go to the nursing home, as well as several of our senior citizens’ homes to sing and minister. Then, we will come back to the church for soup and sandwiches, which will be provided by Sandy Jennings and Rhonda Keesee. If you would like to supplement that with some finger foods, you may feel free, but it’s not expected. The church will provide coffee, hot cocoa, hot cider, etc.
Looking forward to a great celebration of Christmas this Sunday!

Prince of Peace
December 5th, 2009 0 CommentsWhen the angels announced to the shepherds the birth of the Savior, they proclaimed, “Peace on earth, good will toward men.” Well, it’s been 2000 years, and it seems we have yet to see this promised peace. The world is in turmoil, families are disintegrating, and people are having nervous breakdowns.
Peace?
Sunday morning, I will be presenting the solution to the problems all around us. (That’s right — I can boldly proclaim that I know the answer!!!) I will be speaking on the Subject of Christmas Himself — Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. Do you want YOUR family to “sleep in heavenly peace” at night? I encourage you and challenge you to come Sunday morning!
Then, from 6:30 to 8:30 Sunday night, we will be presenting “The Living Gospel” in the church parking lot. Several of you are involved in this ministry, and you need be at the church NO LATER than 5:30 Sunday evening, please. If you are in any of the scenes, I caution you to dress warmly!
For those who come to see the scenes, you may either drive by, or you may park your vehicle and walk through the lighted scenes for a greater effect.
It’s going to a great evening of presenting the gospel message to our community!
See you Sunday!

An open letter from God
November 12th, 2009 0 CommentsGood afternoon!
Well, we’ve got the vans and are ready to leave in a few hours with 18 young people for the Kansas Youth Convention in Wichita! Please pray for me and the other youth sponsors as we set out to pour into the lives of these incredible teenagers for 37 hours this weekend.
I also want to encourage you to join us Sunday morning for a great worship service. I will be delivering that morning “An Open Letter From God”. It has occurred to me that there are many Christ-followers who have completely messed up concepts of God, and it is affecting their walks with Christ. This message is a must-hear, because I believe that many who have not been free in their Christian life will find freedom Sunday morning.
Then, be sure to join us at 6:00 Sunday evening at the 4-H Building (north of town) for our Fall Fest Supper. This is a potluck meal, and we are asking people to bring a main dish and either a salad or dessert to share. The Mpact girls and the Royal Ranger boys will be providing a program that evening, and you won’t want to miss this time of great fellowship.
Looking forward to seeing you Sunday!

Special weekend planned
November 6th, 2009 0 CommentsGood morning!
What a great weekend we have planned at First Assembly in the next couple of days!
First of all, Lee and Dotty Williams will be with us tomorrow night at 7:00 and Sunday morning at 10:30 for “Through the Tears”, a special program in our “Nothing’s Too Hard for God” series, that may be the best program yet in the series. Lee lost his wife and two daughters in a fiery bus crash back in ‘88. None of us can imagine the incredible pain and sorrow and sense of loss that he went through during that time. I have heard him tell his story, and can assure you that it is even more compelling and heart-wrenching than what you might imagine.
The point, however, of the whole weekend, is not to just offer a “tear-jerker” for those who attend, but to offer hope in the middle of grief. Lee knows what it’s like to experience God’s grace in the middle of tragedy, and all who come will be exposed to the offering of this grace.
Please know that the meeting tomorrow night will be here at the church, and not at the Huck Boyd Center. Plan to be here, and bring your friends, neighbors, whomever. This will not be a service to miss! Especially, if you know someone going through grief and loss, bring them!
At 6:00 Sunday evening, Kent Hulbert will be with us a missions service. Kent, who is an old friend of mine, is a missionary with Youth Alive campus ministries. He was the original state Youth Alive coordinator in the nation (for Wisconsin/Northern Michigan), and paved the way for guys like our own Travis Dumond. He is now in the national Youth Alive office, and you will be blessed by Kent and his ministry. I encourage you to come out and get acquainted with him!
It’s a full weekend, but one that you will not soon forget! We’ll see you then!
