Outdoor Worship Service/Groundbreaking

This is a big weekend for First Assembly, one that we've been looking forward to for some time! On Sunday morning, we will be breaking ground at the new property for our building project.

Our Coffee Time and Sunday School will be held at the church as usual. We will then move out to the property for an outdoor worship service and Kids Church, weather permitting. You may want to bring your own lawn chairs and/or canopies to use. We will have plenty of metal folding chairs, but, well, you know...

Following our worship service, we will have a ground breaking ceremony. This will be an act of faith, an act of praise, and an act of dedication. I hope you ALL will be able to join us for this very special service!

There will be no evening activity this week, due to the holiday weekend.

Church Building Project to move forward!

At our Annual Church Business Meeting on Sunday, March 1, an overwhelming majority decided to move forward with the proposed building plans for our new church facility, to be located at 1201 Park Street. Following the vote, an extended time of praise and thanksgiving was offered to the Lord. Ground will be broken in special service Sunday, May 24, with details forthcoming. The new facility will include a multi-purpose room, which will be used for Sunday worship and midweek youth activities for the time being; a fellowship hall/coffe shop, with adjoining kitchen and office space; and an education wing with classrooms, nurseries and children's ministry area. A later phase will include a new auditorium. The leadership of First Assembly feels it would glorify the Lord to believe God for the financing, and not enter into debt. We will pray the money, the resources, the materials and the labor in, and pay as we go. The pastor believes that this will stretch of the faith of the congregation, and stretched faith is proven faith. He believes that stretching the faith of the church will also benefit in believing God for salvations, healings, baptisms in the Holy Spirit, and other things that God wishes to do among us. We will post new updates as they occur. Meanwhile, we covet your prayers regarding this project. To donate to the church building fund, offerings may be sent to First Assembly of God, 298 2nd Street, Phillipsburg, KS 67661, marked "building". All donations are tax deductable.

Waiting and wanting

I trust that your week has gone well thus far. We are looking forward to another Lord's Day together this Sunday here at First Assembly. In the 10:30am service, I will be speaking on "Waiting and Wanting", which will include a presentation on my recent trip to Bangladesh. Don't worry -- I won't bore anybody (or your money back)! We are planning a great service and a great time with the Lord!

Then, at 6:00pm will be our Annual Church Business Meeting. This meeting was postponed from January, when a lot of our members were out of town. This will be an important meeting, not only for the sake of the vision casting for the coming year and the election of a new board member, but because a vote will be taken on the proposed new building plan. I can't stress enough the importance of each of our members being present for this historic meeting.

One more item -- tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 there will be a time of prayer on the new property. We encourage everyone who can to make it to this prayer meeting. Our building project will not transpire without the help of the Lord, and it is for that reason that we will gather tomorrow afternoon.
