Father God
Good morning, church family!
As you know, Sunday is Fathers Day, and I'm looking forward to honoring all the men who will be represented in our service that morning! My message Sunday morning, "Father God," is derived from lessons I've learned over the years of being a dad regarding my heavenly Father. Some have felt that the teaching of God as Father has been a stumbling block because they had such a bad relationship with their earthly father. My prayer is that no matter what kind of dad you have or had, you will receive great encouragement from the Word Sunday morning!
I'm also looking forward to formally introducing you to Todd and Donna Toomer, who have moved to P-burg this week to help us in our mission to reach Phillips County! Todd and Donna have previously pastored a Four Square church, and will be helping me as "associate" pastors, assisting in especially the areas of worship, discipleship and youth ministry. You will love the Toomers, as Nita and I do, and appreciate their servant hearts. They have come on a volunteer basis -- Todd is the new parts manager at Matteson Motors, and Donna works from the home online.
Finally, one more thing to share: Some of you may not be aware of our weekly Coffee Time at 9:00 on Sunday mornings. Snacks are provided for this on a volunteer, sign-up basis. There are some weeks that no one has signed up, and we have to make a "snack run", with the church paying the tab. This Sunday morning we are having a pancake breakfast for a free-will donation. Proceeds will go to help pay for snacks when no one has signed up. Come early this week for great food, fellowship, and a chance to make a difference!
